A Note from the Founder – Stacey Laviolette
It all started when my 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with 10 cavities and needed dental surgery under general anesthesia. She ended up with eight metal caps and had two teeth pulled. I was overwhelmed with guilt and shame, feeling like I had failed her as a mom.
But everything changed the day of her surgery. Sitting in the waiting room, I spoke with other moms — and realized I wasn’t alone. So many of us were struggling, doing our best without the right tools or support.
I searched for fun, friendly dental resources to make brushing easier and less stressful, but nothing felt right. So, I decided to create what I wished had existed.
That’s when the idea for My Friend Toothy® was born — in 2020. After two years of writing the book and building the brand, I officially launched Toothy into the world in 2022!
My mission was simple: to take the fear and frustration out of brushing, and turn it into something kids actually look forward to. What started as a small idea became a movement — helping families build healthy habits with fun, encouragement, and a little magic.
Today, our best-selling Toothy Toolkits (storybook, comfort plush, and mirror sticker) are loved by families, schools, and dental clinics across the globe — and now we’re even heading to Dragon’s Den on CBC to pitch Toothy to the Dragons for their Fall Season 2025!
