Today, I want to share an exciting update about my 7-year-old daughter, Piper, who inspired the creation of My Friend Toothy®. Piper has always struggled with dental anxiety, and routine cleanings have been a big challenge. With her history of multiple cavities (10 at age 3, followed by 8 and then 5), finding ways to help her feel brave and comfortable during dental care has been essential.
Enter Shannon, a mobile hygienist from Complete Oral Wellness. She brought her dental cleaning van right to our driveway—creating the perfect environment to make Piper feel at ease. Together, we developed a plan: Shannon will visit every three months to provide cleanings, scaling, and rinsing. This approach is like exposure therapy, gradually preparing Piper for visits to a dental office while keeping her oral health in check.
I’m thrilled to share that Piper has gone an entire year without any dental decay—a major milestone! This progress wouldn’t have been possible without Shannon’s compassionate care and our focus on building positive dental habits at home.
As a token of appreciation, I donated 10 Toothies to Shannon’s clinic to gift to her new patients. Shannon loved the idea so much that she decided to purchase 100 Toothies to give to her young patients as a fun and comforting gift!! How awesome is that?!?!
